Another Tokyo cow for Amanda

Today’s pictures have nothing to do with Ashland. Sorry. I’m in Tokyo, Japan where these were taken, and today’s photos are really for Amanda, Ashland’s cow lover.
These life-size cattle were spotted in Asakusa (浅草). I think they were in front of a restaurant called Heijoen (平城苑). There was one more steer on the ground, painted gold with a gold dog on his back.
If you look closely at the one above you’ll see a Japanese lady in kimono painted on the cow’s back. Ironically, the building next door included an Animal Hospital and a beauty salon (for your pet).
I always assumed that on fancy firework displays a button was pushed and everything went off like a computer program. It appears that each one is being lit individually. Thanks for these “behind the scenes” shots Amanda.
I’ll complete the Independence Day series tomorrow with a shot taken at the same time as the above from a mile away.
It has been almost a month since the festivities of the 4th, but I still have dozens of pics to share. I’ll wrap things up over the next few days and then share the rest next year (when we won’t be around Ashland anyway).
Amanda got to help set up the fireworks display so these exclusive shots (today and tomorrow) are from her.
This is on Iowa Street between the SOU softball and soccer fields.
Brilliant capture of this image by Amanda Bullock.
