Early blossoming this year
I’m not sure if it was a warm winter or a warm spring, but the blossoms hit their peak a week or two early this year. I took this earlier this week, but it doesn’t normally look like this until the first week of May.

#AIFF13 Crowds were lining up to see “SPARK: A Burning Man Story” at the 2013 Ashland Independent Film Festival on the night I took today’s photo.
Today’s photo is a reverse angle, taken a few hours earlier, of what I posted a couple days ago. I took this before the showing of “Ritual” (a short documentary) and “SPARK: A Burning Man Story.”
I was a volunteer photographer at this year’s AIFF. The project consumed more of my time than I was expecting, but one of the rewards was being able to see things that typical attendees of the festival miss. If you are in the Ashland area on April 20, you can hear Nic play at the Duo piano recital: Nic Temple & Jon Hays.
The last couple days have been pretty crazy photo wise. I probably have about 1,000 keepers from about ten different events (including not only the AIFF events but also Nic Temple’s piano recital, SOU softball doubleheader, some wild weather panoramas, and Father Doug at Club 66). Now I just need to sort through them all…
