Disneyland Paris

Way back when we were in Europe our family went to Disney Land Paris. It had really long lines, but it was a ton of fun. Its been a while since our trip but I’ll try to remember the best I can.

Here’s me with Smee from Peter Pan. The Peter Pan ride we went on was a cool little ride. It was one of those that was more cool than fast. You flew around Never Land on flying pirate ships (I wish I had one of those). The only particulars I remember of it was you flew through some pretty cool star effects up in the sky. They were kind of like the stars in the ride Space Mountain. I was really scared at first to go on that ride because when I went on it in California I got sick. Amazingly enough I was the only one who didn’t get sick this time. I guess I’m getting less afraid of roller coasters now.

Above is me with the evil king in Robin Hood. Since there are no Robin Hood rides there I’m going to talk about the haunted mansion type ride. In front of us in line there were some people dressed up in weird costumes, my mom got a picture with them. The ride itself was really cool, funny and pretty unscary. It was probably the best ride there. Speaking of scary things at Disney Land, we went to a hororific Mexican restraunt. The only drinks they had were hot chocolates which weren’t very comforting because I was already really hot. The worst part was the nachos. They were just a few doritos in a box.

Overall it was a fun amusement park but not as fun as Tivolli. I would suggest bringing your own lunch though because the food is not very good.

Soccer game

Filed under: Denmark Trip — Tags: — ryan @ 3:36 am

Yesterday we went to the F. C. Kobenhavn soccer game. They played against the Irish Cliftonville football (soccer) team. We found out the F.C. stands for Football Club. We sat in a seat that was surrounded by a bunch of drunk people who had too much alcohol in them too pay attention to the game. They were cheering the whole time. F. C. Kobenhavn smoked the Irish team 7-0.

Christiania

Christiania is this hippie town in Copenhagen that we went to. We went with my dad’s work. They gave us a guided tour by a man who lives there. They aren’t alowed to build new houses there so they use old goverment buildings. There is a lot of graffiti, even more than in the rest of Copenhagen. Some of the graffiti was really cool and cartoony though.

There is one street that you aren’t alowed to take pictures of because that is where all of the drug dealers are. All the playgrounds are all recycled with stuff like piano insides and tires. They are really into some German builders who come there and sometimes live there. I won’t be living there anytime soon though because Christiania has a really long waiting list for new residents.

Thorvaldsens Museum

Yesterday we went to Thorvaldsen Museum which is a whole museum with one sculpter’s works. They had really cool virtual tour guide things which when you point at sensors near statues it will tell you all about the statue. Most of the statues were of Greek or Roman myths. So the guide tells you some myths as well. I thought it was one of the most fun museums I’ve been to.

Afterwards we went to the bibliotek, which we thought was a huge public library but found out it was a museum where you picked up library books that you ordered online. After that we found the real public library and got a card. We now have lots of English books (most are probaly from England). We got home just in time to go to the Dansk Design Center.

Statens Museum for Kunst

Today and yesterday we went to the Kunst art museum. We first went to the children’s section that had exibits about dreams. My favorite was a big red chair with an unnatral lump on it, but there were also lots of other good ones like the hand below that is attacking me. After we went to a little dark room with spotlights with videos of people dancing. Though it was designed for six year olds it was fun. We also went to a section with all of the famous stuff. There was a painting of a man who looked excactly like Lord Farquaad from Shrek.

The most fun part of the day was a workshop we did where you could build and paint stuff. First I painted a sea god type thing which took me a long time, and then I made a ladder going through clouds. Today we came back because our parents wanted to see some jazz (and Ellie and I are sick of jazz). I painted Pacman and built a cage with Hagar the Horrible in it. We might go again sometime later. I hope so!
