The Ghoul With No Name

I’m in Sweden at the Getaway Rock Festival for the next three days. In my absence I will leave you with three days of “ghost blogging.” This is Ghost, a band with no member names from Sweden. They will also be performing at the Getaway Rock Festival on Friday night, but these photos I took at the Roskilde Festival 2011 in Denmark last week.

Are you scared yet?

Ghost played on the Odeon Stage at Roskilde. Don’t take all the Satanic garb and lyrics too seriously; the members don’t seem to either as evidenced by their cover of the Beatles’ “Here Comes The Sun.” Their songs are very catchy–sort of a cross between Blue Oyster Cult and Mercyful Fate. The audience had a great time and sang along throughout even though they don’t believe in Satan any more than they believe in gods or Santa Claus. At one point, just before Ghost came on stage, the crowd started chanting “Sa-tan sa-tan sa-tan…” before bursting into laughter. Scandinavia can have some fun with the religions of the Dark Ages as they turn all of the churches into museums, restaurants, and art galleries. When will the rest of the world?
