Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m. tonight (11\/8\/13) against Pendleton. The Grizzlies<\/a> have a perfect 9-0 record but were shortchanged in the seeding. Despite finishing #3 in the polls, AHS will go into the 2013 OSAA 5A State Football Championships as the #5 seed. (Ashland beat Springfield in the game featured in today’s photos, and Springfield went in with two losses as the #3 seed.)<\/p>\n

The seeding makes a big difference. Assuming the top seeds win, Ashland will have to defeat Pendleton, the #4 seed, and the #1 seed in order to advance to the championship game. The #2 and #3 seeds don’t face anyone higher than the #6 seed before facing each other in the semifinals. Obtaining the #5 seed instead of the #4 or #3 seed also means this is likely the last game at home for the Grizzlies.<\/p>\n
