The metro stations wasn&#8217;t one of them, but with two days of lousy weather in a row, with the first day already spent at an unplanned stop (<a href=https:\/\/traveljapanblog.com\/wordpress\/tag\/hermitage\/>The Hermitage Museum<\/a>), I needed to find something not outdoors that wouldn&#8217;t have me standing around in another museum. Turns out there is a museum of sorts, that allows sitting much of the time, that&#8217;s deep underground in St. Petersburg. The cost was nice too (45 rubles or about US $.70). <\/p>\n<p>The Soviets really did a number on their metro stations in the 1950s. Each is unique and many are rather decadent. I set out for the &#8220;two best&#8221; in Saint Petersburg. Along the way I jumped out at several unplanned stops that looked amazing or interesting as well.
