Few people were on this <a href=http:\/\/traveljapanblog.com\/wordpress\/2009\/11\/mt-mitake-hike-part-2-kori-station-to-mt-otsuka\/>trail<\/a> (in the \u5965\u591a\u6469\u753a area). In fact, we would have thought we were on some of our favorite hikes near home in Ashland, Oregon were it not for the roots lining the trail, the trees not being quite the same (<I>sugi<\/I> maybe? \u6749), and the occasional hiker saying <I>konnichiwa<\/I> to us.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/traveljapanblog.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/21121744trim.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/traveljapanblog.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/21121744trim-600x800.jpg\" alt=\"fall in japan\" title=\"fall in japan\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3791\" srcset=\"https:\/\/traveljapanblog.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/21121744trim-600x800.jpg 600w, https:\/\/traveljapanblog.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/21121744trim-187x250.jpg 187w, https:\/\/traveljapanblog.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/21121744trim.jpg 675w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Upon reaching the ridge after a couple of hours, the views changed rather dramatically. They were also very different depending on which way you looked. Trees on one side of the ridge were non-existent on the opposing side and vice versa.
