SOU Plunkett Center

Southern Oregon University’s Plunkett Center sits on the corner of Mountain and Siskiyou. The building serves as the home of the foundation and alumni relations. A beautiful building in any season, my favorite is April when one of the two trees in front of it is always in bloom. The tree on the right of the building (center of this photograph) had yet to bloom when I took this picture in early April.

Very gracious building. Was it built for its present purpose by the University, or did they take over an old house? It looks rather too lovely to be a university-designed building (I work in one, so I’m familiar with the genre).

I don’t know for sure. I’m guessing it was not part of the original school and was taken over at some point. I have been inside and would guess its age to be at least a hundred years old. Some form of the school has been around for about 135 years.

The above link is dead, but here is one about the history of the Plunkett Center at SOU: https://siskiyou.sou.edu/2013/11/04/a-southern-oregon-university-haunting-a-story-not-for-the-light-of-heart/
