Behind Carpenter Hall

Magnolia × soulangeana

This was the scene behind Carpenter Hall (home of the OSF Box Office) last week.

Anyone know the name of this tree with the gigantic purple and white flowers that blooms this time of year?

    I believe they are magnolias.

    Thanks Laura. With your tip and a little further research I’ve come to the conclusion that they are “Magnolia × soulangeana.”
