This year’s celebration will take place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, January 16). The location will be the same as prior years, the Historic Ashland Armory @ 208 Oak Street. The doors will open at 11:30, but you will need to arrive before then for a decent chance at a seat as the armory always fills up. People are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to donate to the Ashland Emergency Food Bank. Admission is free.
A live simulcast will take place at the Varisty Theatre on East Main Street for those who can’t get into the armory.
Photos from prior years can be found here.
Maya Angelou will be honored in this year’s program on Monday, January 19 at noon in the Ashland Armory. There will be a choir from John Muir Elementary, students from Ashland High School’s Change Project, Intention Dance, Samba do Coração, Rogue Valley Gospel Group and other performers. Seats are usually gone by about 11:45 so get there early.
