2013 Ashland Monster Dash runners in Lithia Park
Last year David Laney won the 2012 Ashland Monster Dash 5k race and Ryan Ghelfi won the 10k.
This year they traded races but not places as David won the 10k and Ryan won the 5k.

Tonight is the annual pre-race pasta party at the Historic Ashland Armory. Feel free to just show up and pay at the door. You don’t need to be in the race tomorrow to come and eat tonight. The meal isn’t expensive, and all proceeds go to a great cause.

But the hare’s last leap was just too late, for the tortoise had beaten him to the winning post. Poor hare! Tired and in disgrace, he slumped down beside the tortoise who was silently smiling at him.
It’s not too late to sign up for this year’s Monster Dash to benefit the Ashland School’s Foundation. Race day this year is October 26.

Somehow I think this Eric Cartman (South Park) costume was meant for someone a bit shorter and fatter.
The 5k and 10k races of the 2012 Ashland Monster Dash began at the same time. Just to the left of center you can see the winner of the 10k race, Ryan Ghelfi, who finished more than 2 minutes faster than the next racer!
David Laney edged out Trevor Palmer (aka Popeye) to win the 5k race at yesterday’s 2012 Ashland Monster Dash.
For some reason I’ve never been in town when the Ashland Monster Dash has happened. Last year we were in Portland. So this was my first, and it was funner than expected–even without any blue in the sky.
I have hundreds of decent images from this morning’s races and costume contest so I’ll be posting many over the coming days.
