Foreigner @ Jackson County Fair
Last night I headed up I-5 for about 20 miles to check out Foreigner at the Jackson County Fair (Lithia Motors Amphitheater). I thought Foreigner was decent when I was about 10 or 12 years old in the late 70s, but they were too bland and boring for me soon thereafter. However, we don’t get many acts to choose from in Southern Oregon so I went to last night’s show and enjoyed myself.
None of the Foreigner members from the 1970s, or even the 1980s, were there last night. This is almost more of a Foreigner cover band at this point, but they sounded good and probably showed more energy and enthusiasm than the original members would have.
The South Medford High School Choir joined Foreigner on stage for one of their sappy ballads. It’s rather brilliant marketing when you think about it as most Foreigner fans from the 1970s and 1980s are at the age now to have kids in high school.
There were threats of thunder and lightning, but none of it materialized during the show. The sky was very nice and the temperature was great compared to the normal heat of the Jackson County Fair.
More photos (and the setlist) from the show can be found here.

I have a couple of albums with this band. Used to listen a lot to them a few eons ago. Great to see them on stage today.
