The brackets are set for the rounds of 64 and 32 in the 2025 NAIA Women’s Basketball Championship. SOU will be hosting UC Merced (who they beat back in November 76-52) in the round of 64, and should they win they will face the winner of Carroll College vs. Wayland Baptist in the round of 32.
What does Massey Ratings predict?
Massey gives SOU a 97% chance of beating UC Merced in Ashland. Massey thinks Carroll is better than Wayland Baptist (which is different than how the NAIA seeded them). Massey predicts SOU will beat Carroll at home 70% of the time.
The games will be on March 14 and 15.

At first glance at the brackets below, you’d think the SOU men are long shots and the women won’t have too much trouble moving past the first round. However, the seedings are based on biased coaches rather than any sort of objective rankings. Massey Ratings looks at strength of schedule, margin of victory, etc. to come up with its far-more-accurate rankings.
Massey gives the Raider men a 36% chance of beating the #2 seed in the first round (which is a high percentage for a #15 playing on a #2’s home court) but gives the women just a 38% chance of getting past Wayland Baptist.
Games begin on Tuesday.
