The Raider Football Team ends their season on the road this weekend. Today’s photo is from last Saturday’s home finale vs. Eastern Oregon University.
The opening round of the CCC Volleyball Championships begins tonight in Ashland. The Raiders will be taking on Northwest Christian University with the winner advancing to the next round.

Austin Dodge completes career touchdown pass number 100 to Matt Retzlaff
Saturday’s loss to Eastern was painful, but it did include Austin Dodge’s 100th career touchdown pass pictured above. With a game to go, Dodge has 45 touchdown passes on the season. He’s only a junior.
Many schools are out today for Veteran’s Day, but Southern Oregon University is in session (as are all of the Oregon University System schools).

Last night’s dinner consisted of a another delicious Sammich. Not the one pictured above, that one is from the archives. I didn’t have my camera with me last night. The one above was a special (Miguelito) and hence not on the regular menu board (pictured below).
The Southern Oregon University wrestling team begins their 2013-2014 season tomorrow night (11/9/13) beginning at 7 p.m. in a home dual against #13 Menlo. The Raiders will be led by #1 ranked Brock Gutches this season.
Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m. tonight (11/8/13) against Pendleton. The Grizzlies have a perfect 9-0 record but were shortchanged in the seeding. Despite finishing #3 in the polls, AHS will go into the 2013 OSAA 5A State Football Championships as the #5 seed. (Ashland beat Springfield in the game featured in today’s photos, and Springfield went in with two losses as the #3 seed.)
The seeding makes a big difference. Assuming the top seeds win, Ashland will have to defeat Pendleton, the #4 seed, and the #1 seed in order to advance to the championship game. The #2 and #3 seeds don’t face anyone higher than the #6 seed before facing each other in the semifinals. Obtaining the #5 seed instead of the #4 or #3 seed also means this is likely the last game at home for the Grizzlies.
Sydney Paulsen scored the only goal SOU would need in their shutout victory (2-0) over Eastern Oregon this afternoon. Next up is Concordia on the road. SOU lost to Concordia at home (2-1) last month.
