The heptathlon is over, and favorite Tiana Thomas took first place again.
Freshman Joe Dotson of Southern Oregon is clinging to a slim second-place lead heading into the final events of the decathlon. Oregon Tech’s Seth Gretz, one of the NAIA’s top decathletes, has a large lead.

The CCC heptathlon and decathlon are happening today and tomorrow at Raider Stadium in Ashland. You can watch the events live or follow the results online here.

Next Friday night is the annual Red & Black Spring Game in Ashland. Today’s photo is from early in the 2015 season, another season that ended in a trip to the National Championship.

Four of the #18 Raiders final eight regular season games are happening this Friday and Saturday. They currently hold a one-game lead over Oregon Tech in the standings. Saturday is senior day.

SOU nearly took two more from OIT today. Instead, they settled for a split in Klamath Falls. These teams couldn’t be any more competitive. They have now played four times, going extra innings twice, and three of the four games have been settled by one run. The other? SOU won by just two runs.
Unfortunately for the 28-12 Raiders, they are going to need some help from other teams to catch the Owls as SOU is currently a game back in the standings, and they have no more regular season games against Oregon Tech.

Sydney White is the Cascade Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week. She allowed only 5 earned runs in 39 2/3 innings during SOU’s 10-game homestand.
Raider Club Auction

Tickets are still available for the annual Raider Club Scholarship Dinner and Auction.
The event will be held April 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the Rogue River Room on the SOU Campus.
Tickets are $50 per person and tables can be purchased for $500. To purchase tickets, call 541-552-6824 or email Bobby Heiken at heikenb@sou.edu.
The Scholarship Dinner and Auction raises scholarship money for student-athletes at SOU. The event features a silent auction, a live auction, a scholarship ask and dinner provided by Beasy’s On The Creek.
Last year’s event brought in over $85,000 for the student-athletes of SOU.

The photos I post here are a small fraction of the photos I actually have. If you would like to print any of the photos on this blog, you are welcome to do so at no charge. Be sure to click on the photo to get to the higher resolution size which will print with more quality. If you want to use them on the web (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), you are welcome to do so if you link back to traveljapanblog.com/ashland in the description of the photo. If you would like me to search through all of my photos and send you photos of the particular athlete you are looking for I charge a reasonable fee for the time it takes me to find all of those photos and to process them for you. I do not normally sell prints. I email you the high quality electronic files in .jpg format, and you can do the printing and framing yourself through a local or online service.
