Brock Gutches takes down Simpson’s Brady Beamon

The SOU Wrestling Team won’t be wrestling in Ashland again until January 16. Over the next two days, some members of the team will be competing in the Midlands Championship in Evanston, Illinois.

This weekend’s series weren’t going to be easy for the SOU basketball teams despite their high NAIA rankings. The women lost to (also ranked) Eastern Oregon University 102-78 earlier tonight despite 15 points from Kristen Schoenherr. The men’s game has just begun.

SOU’s basketball teams, who are a combined 24-2 at this point, hit the road for CCC games this weekend. Tonight they play in La Grande, Oregon before heading to Caldwell, Idaho for tomorrow’s games.

“Southern Oregon’s David Sturner has been named the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the week.

Sturner, a senior from Philomath, Oregon, had his ninth double-double of the season and sixth in seven games against No. 23 Cal Maritime. Sturner, who hit the go-ahead 3-pointer and scored consecutive buckets to put SOU up 7 with a minute left, now ranks 6th in the NAIA in RPG (10.6) and 16th in FG% (61.0).”
