The 8-1 Raiders beat 5-2-1 Northwest 2-0 today. Southern Oregon currently has the most points in the 14-team Cascade Conference (as no other team has more than 6 wins). SOU is the only team to have beaten #10 Rocky Mountain, and yet the Raiders still aren’t receiving any votes in the coaches’ poll.

As expected, the Raiders moved up one spot, with Montana Tech dropping to #11 in today’s NAIA Coaches’ Poll. Montana Western and Rocky Mountain are still not in the top 25 (even though Massey has them at #9 and #15). Eastern Oregon is #12 on Massey but is not receiving a single vote from the coaches (despite having beaten Montana Western). Compare them to Kansas Wesleyan who the coaches have at #25 and Massey has at #56!

A big win over Eastern Oregon this weekend, coupled with a tight game for Grand View, could move Southern Oregon up to #6 next week.

The Raiders had a bye yesterday. Montana Western upset Montana Tech to put the Raiders in sole possession of first place in the Frontier Conference. The Raiders will still likely need to beat Tech on the road to win the conference. This week Southern Oregon will travel to Eastern Oregon. Massey has the Raiders up to #4 and a 4-point favorite in La Grande.

The new coaches poll comes out tomorrow. Look for the Raiders to slide past Tech into the #7 spot.

5-0 Southern Oregon slid one spot on Massey to #5 after yesterday’s narrow victory over Rocky. Massey had the Raiders as 11-point favorites. Rocky moved up to #12 on Massey, but the biased coaches will keep them out of the top 25.

Marian lost, for the second time this year, so the coaches will drop them (even though they lost to the #1 team), and the Raiders will move up in tomorrow’s coaches’ poll to #8.

SOU has a bye this coming weekend and will travel to Eastern Oregon on October 14. Massey has the Raiders as 4-point favorites in that one.

The coaches were finally wise enough to realize that the Raiders 4-0 (with the 7th most difficult strength of schedule in the NAIA) was worth a bit more than Arizona Christian’s 4-0 (with the 82nd most difficult strength of schedule in the NAIA) in today’s rankings. The Raiders moved from #13 to #9 and will face the coaches’ #26 this Saturday.

Massey has Rocky Mountain at #13. Get your tickets early. You don’t want to be stuck in line when the Raiders are scoring early on (like some of the nearly 4,000 in attendance last Saturday).

Massey was more impressed with Montana Tech’s trouncing of Eastern Oregon (by 48) than SOU’s win, even though SOU beat Massey’s spread of 16 (by 5) yesterday. Hence, Montana Tech moved into Massey’s #3 spot. Barring two upsets to the Raiders or Tech, the final game of the regular season, in which Southern Oregon will play at Montana Tech, is shaping up to be an absolute huge affair.

In tomorrow’s coaches’ poll SOU will likely move past St. Xavier, Southeastern, and Doane to come in at #10. There is a chance the Raiders can slip past Arizona Christian (who Massey has at #42) as well.

The 4-0 Raiders play at home again this coming Saturday. Massey has SOU as 11-point favorites against 3-2 Rocky.
