SOU’s basketball teams have now played each team in the Cascade Conference once. They will play them all again before the regular season is over.
Despite Saturday’s loss to Eastern Oregon University, the 16-1 women’s team is in a good position. They will face second place EOU and third place OIT at home in the second half. Massey has them as an 81-100% favorite in each of their remaining, regular-season games. Massey has them at #8, while the coaches have the Lady Raiders at #11. If they can win their final 10 games, and win the conference tournament (which will be in Ashland if they continue winning), they should have no problem getting back into the coaches’ top 8. A final ranking between four and eight means a #2 seeding in the national tournament. A #1 seeding (by virtue of a final ranking in the coaches’ poll between one and four) is unlikely after the loss to EOU.

The men will need a better second half to win the conference, and it won’t be easy. They are currently in second place, but they must face Northwest Christian, Corban, and Warner Pacific on the road in the second half. At least they get Oregon Tech at home. Still, it will be difficult to make it through the conference with fewer than 4 or 5 losses.
Both teams will be at home (Ashland High School) this coming Saturday and Sunday.
