Final Utah Winter Scene!

If you are sick of my pictures of Utah you are in luck as tomorrow we will be moving out of Utah and getting on the road back to Ashland. Today’s photo includes my father-in-law and nephew.

Yet another Utah Winter Scene

Temple Square

Here is another shot from Christmas Eve on Temple Square. The Mormon Temple is to the left and the building in the background is the LDS Conference Center, a huge building (seating over 21,000 people) the Mormon Tabernacle Choir frequently sings in these days.

Great Salt Lake again

I took this one from up in the Wasatch Mountains, northeast of Kaysville, Utah. The camera was pointing southwest.

Mormon Temple

A photo tour of Utah wouldn’t be complete without a picture of the center of Salt Lake City, the Mormon temple. We walked around Temple Square on Christmas Eve. The temperature was well below freezing, and I was with a bunch of relatives who weren’t going to wait for me to take pictures. I did snag a few, but they are all a bit over or under exposed. I didn’t have time to take multiple exposures.

View from my Utah bed

I had a hard time choosing between today’s images. Instead of making a choice I will present both.

When I woke up the day after Christmas the above was the view from my bed. My camera happened to be next to the bed so I just reached down and took this photograph while still lying down. The snow on the bottom of the window frame reminded me of how kids draw snow scenes. This may have been the first time I actually saw snow lining the bottom of a window in real life though.

Not content with just a view while horizontal, I also went up to the window to capture this second, unframed scene. A blue sky always seems a bit bluer when there is snow on the ground (plus the tinted window seemed to give everything on the other side of it a bit of a blueish hue).

Another Utah winter scene

During our week in Utah, breaks in the snow were infrequent; breaks in the clouds were even more rare. When they did happen I broke out my camera to feast on the views. The structure in this photo is a chicken coop. The town was Kaysville.

Great Salt Lake

The Great Salt Lake (in the distance) from a Fruit Heights neighborhood… The “mountain” in the lake is Antelope Island State Park.

Utah Winter Scene

There weren’t many blue skies while we were in Utah, but here was one of those few moments.
