#14 SOU Raiders volleyball – #14 Kelsea MacPhee
@SOURaiders @RaiderVB
Despite taking their first loss in the CCC this past weekend (a loss to Concordia on the road), the Southern Oregon University volleyball team jumped two spots in the national rankings to #14. This weekend they take on the #11 and #32 teams in the country, Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho in Ashland.

AHS soccer – Lilli Patton header
Crater High School is coming down I-5 to Ashland today (9/23/14). They dropped down to 5A this year, same as Ashland High School. I’m not sure why as they have about 50% more students, but, in any event, they have become a formidable opponent in most sports for the Grizzlies.
At 4 p.m. at North Mountain Park they will take on the girls soccer team. Ashland has lost only one game this season.
Then, at 7 p.m., Crater’s 9-1 volleyball team will take on Ashland’s 7-1 team in the AHS gym.

Daniel Abernethy picked up the loose ball and headed for the end zone

Details of yesterday’s game against the College of Idaho Yotes can be found here. Today’s photo sequence shows the section that says “The final score was tacked on when Daniel Breaux’s sack forced a fumble, making way for Daniel Abernethy to scoop it up and cruise in from 43 yards out.”

Touchdown Daniel Abernethy

#7 Dustin Fretwell

Le’Dontrae Gooden

#47 Daniel Breaux had the sack that led to the fumble recovery and TD by Daniel Abernethy. #22 Heston Altenbach enters the celebration at this point.

SOU football @ Ashland High School with Happy Camp Fire smoke drifting in during second half
@SOU_Football @SOURaiders
Today’s photo is from the game two weeks ago with Carroll College. During the third quarter large amounts of smoke from California blew into Ashland, and by the end of the game the blue sky was completely gone.
Today’s game against College of Idaho is again at Ashland High School. The new turf at Raider Stadium is more or less done and will be used, not today but, next Thursday for the first time for soccer. The Southern Oregon University football team will play their next home game there.
Arrive early if you want to sit in the shade. The forecasted temperature at kickoff is 90 degrees, and the forecast for the end of the game is 96 degrees.

GraveWitch’s Chris Fleming @ Club 66
These two 17-year olds from Bend can really bring it. I haven’t heard a high-school-aged band sound this good since I saw The Legacy (pre-Testament) play back in 1983 or Death Angel in 1987.
