X Suns @ Club 66 (10/15/15)

When Russian Circles came on my Pandora station a few minutes ago, I realized that I still hadn’t processed (or even looked at) my X Suns photos from last month at Club 66. Great band, wonderful performance, no awful vocals to foul things up. Hopefully they keep it that way. BTW, that’s 10 suns, as in the Roman numeral X.

Been listening to X Suns all morning even though I’m not positive I will be able to make tonight’s show. Really good stuff. They sound a bit like Pelican and Russian Circles, two of my favorite bands.

Hivelords found there way to Ashland, all the way from Philadelphia, this past week. They still have some shows left on their cross-country summer tour so if you are in, or near, Colorado Springs, Denver, Wichita, Kansas City, Lexington, Charleston, or Pittsburgh be sure to check them out.

Ekstasis @ Club 66 on August 3, 2015
Monday night was a strange one at Club 66, strange but very good. Three touring bands, not on tour together, met up for an evening in which no band sounded anything remotely like any of the others, yet everyone seemed to enjoy the wide variety of music. Photos of the other bands (OVVL and Cloak) coming soon.
You can catch Ekstasis tonight (August 5) in Salem @ The Wisp House, tomorrow (August 6) in Portland @ High Water Mark Lounge, and Friday night in Seattle @ Vermillion. Prepare to be moved.
I’m looking forward to listening to my new copy of The Book of Longing on my drive to Seaside, Oregon tomorrow.
Ekstasis tour 2015
Although this flyer is nearly impossible to read, it does say that Ekstasis will be playing on Monday evening (August 3, 2015) in Ashland at Club 66. OVVL (AKA Owl) and Cloak are also on the bill. Things will kick off at 8 p.m.
Listen to what you are in for here, here, and here–basically a night of bands that sound nothing like each other spanning the likes of folk, black/death metal, and everything in between.
