Maldemption @ Musichead
Last night, Friday the 13th, there was another three-act metal show at Musichead.
First up was Maldemption, the only local band on the bill, doing their first live performance as Maldemption. A few years back they played as NailMary.

In New York City in the summer they have a series of (mostly free) concerts called SummerStage. My wife wanted to see Alabama Shakes. I wasn’t planning on taking photos, but I was heading over to Citi Field in Queens to catch the Mets and Yankees game later in the day so I had my camera with long lenses in the bag.

The first band on the bill was Robert Ellis. We weren’t very close to the stage, but with a crop sensor DSLR (Nikon D7000), 70-200mm lens, and 1.7X teleconverter, I didn’t need to be to take these shots.

Next up after Brynna Dean at the Tap House on Monday evening was Dirty Kid Discount, a three-piece on this evening that sometimes has as many as six members.

Last night at Caldera Tap House in Ashland there were a few acts playing. The first was Brynna Dean of 100 Watt Mind singing and playing her Gibson SG Guitar. (Ryan recently purchased an SG.)
Floater @ OIT

I headed over the Green Springs on Highway 66 last night with my son and his friend to see Floater perform at Oregon Tech (OIT) in Klamath Falls. I have never really been to Klamath Falls before even though it less than two hours from Ashland. I have been through it a few times, but the last time was probably five years ago. So this was my first time on the OIT campus. Floater basically played at the end of the hallway in the student union building, not your typical concert venue.
The stage was only a foot off the ground (if that), there were no spot lights, and strong sunlight was coming in through the blinds behind the band for the first few songs so conditions and lighting were really poor for photography or for just seeing the band (as you’ll especially note in the video at the end).
The crowd was enthusiastic and appreciative. That’s my son, Ryan, in the middle there (with all of the hair) trying to get a mosh pit going. I’m proud to say he succeeded.
