Lithia Park’s Ashland Creek

On tonight’s First Friday Art Walk I saw the most amazing photo of Ashland Creek. I need to find that spot in Lithia Park. Saturday’s weather forecast isn’t great, but maybe I’ll try then if things aren’t too bad.

I took this photo early last month near the part of Granite Street where the pavement turns into dirt. Now that May has arrived and many more leaves are on the trees I’ll have to go back for another look.

Skating in the Park

For the last few days you had your choice of skating (per the blue sign), skiing, snow shoeing, or snow booting it through Lithia Park. I chose the latter although the others sounded funner.

The buildings in the background are part of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Lithia Park Duck Pond

I don’t know where all the ducks are in this recent photo, but usually the upper duck pond in Lithia Park is teaming with them. Since returning from Japan, I’ve noticed the duck pond to also be well stocked with koi. Also, the water is no longer green. When did these things happen?

Fall foliage in Lithia Park

I haven’t been out of the house in a week thanks to the flu so I’m digging into the archives a bit for this one. It’s been a few weeks since Lithia Park looked like this. For now, I’ll just look forward to spring.

Ashland Creek in Autumn

Ashland Creek, which runs through Lithia Park, is nice in all seasons but fall has to be my favorite.

View from the position of a fallen leaf

I was sitting in the grass in Lithia Park the other day, enjoying rather warm temperatures for November. Instead of pulling the camera up to see what I was taking a picture of, I just took it from the position of the leaves I was sitting in.

Lithia Park deer

I didn’t use any zoom on this one. This deer was just a foot in front of me. The deer showed no fear of a guy on a bike with a camera in his hands a mere foot or so away. Normally I pass on deer photo opportunities, as they are so plentiful in Ashland, but the lighting was nice.

Quitters

These trees in Lithia Park have quit their chlorophyll production for the year. They’ll try again next year.

Lithia Park in Fall

autumn foliage fall colors

The weather has been really great the past week. I took today’s photo several days ago. When I rode my bike through Lithia Park yesterday, the fall colors were more spectacular, but I didn’t have my camera with me. The foliage changes so much every day. I love this time of year.
