Cold sunrise over Ashland, Oregon
Like most of the West Coast of the USA over the past week, Ashland has been freezing–literally. Snow hasn’t fallen for about a week, but with lows in the teens every night since and highs around 30 degrees, not much has melted. Today we may finally hit 40 degrees, and we may even hit 50 at some point this weekend so there is hope that this state of affairs won’t last forever.
The men and women teams play tonight and tomorrow night in Ashland. Tonight the opponent is Evergreen State College, and tomorrow is Northwest University. Game time is 5:30 for the ladies each night and 7:30 for the men.

The Southern Oregon University Men’s Basketball team beat William Jessup 85-83 on Wednesday night to run their record to 13-4 for the 2012-2013 season. They play Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls tomorrow night before returning home to face Evergreen on January 11.
I had a tough time reading my opponent while playing poker the other night.
Southern Oregon beat Concordia in women’s basketball last night (an away game for the Raiders so today’s photo is actually from last weeks’ game against College of Idaho). Melissa Sweat scored 28 points to bring her average up to about 20 points a game. The Raiders play at Warner Pacific today in a few hours.
… returns to their home court tonight in Ashland for the first time in almost three weeks. Tonight’s game is against Eastern Oregon and tomorrow the Raiders will face College of Idaho. Both games start at 7:30.

The Southern Oregon University wrestling team will be hosting MSU-Northern tomorrow night beginning at 7 p.m. in Ashland.

Jolene baked up some more desserts for me to photograph a week ago. Last time I used only natural light from her dining room windows to illuminate her sweets. This time thick fog wrapped the house so natural light wasn’t an option. I used a different lens and some alternative lighting for a different look.
I wonder if this photo is of the same buck as this one a little over three months ago.
Last week there was a full moon and Jupiter (the bright point below and to the left of the moon) was close to the moon. With a few wispy clouds buzzing across the sky it was all too much for me to resist so I headed out into the cold darkness for this photo.
