SOU Track and Field decathlete Joe Dotson

The heptathlon is over, and favorite Tiana Thomas took first place again.
Freshman Joe Dotson of Southern Oregon is clinging to a slim second-place lead heading into the final events of the decathlon. Oregon Tech’s Seth Gretz, one of the NAIA’s top decathletes, has a large lead.

Amelia Maguin took first in three events in the conference championships

Amelia Maguin wasn’t SOU’s only champion at nationals this past weekend. Dylan Alexander won the 5,000 meter run despite being the #3 seed. Today’s photo shows him receiving third place from Commissioner Rob Cashell in the 1,500 at the Cascade Conference Championship in Ashland despite being the #6 seed. He won the 5,000 at the conference level as well.
Amelia Maguin – 2015 NAIA 400m hurdles National Champion

Amelia Maguin set a new PR in winning the 400 meter hurdles today in the 2015 NAIA Outdoor National Championships in Alabama. Her time of 58.96 seconds was almost two seconds faster than the runner up.

Going into Nationals (this weekend), NAIA leaders in each outdoor track and field event can be viewed here. As you can see, Markus Sanders has the third-longest throw in the country in the hammer this season. Last year he came in seventh in this event.
