Dankook University’s Traditional Korean Dance Performance at Southern Oregon University

dano scenery korea sou dance music recital hall campus exchange partnership

This past Tuesday evening I had the privilege to witness SOU’s sister university in South Korea, Dankook University, put on a traditional Korean dance performance in the Music Recital Hall on the SOU campus. Apparently, they also did this show at Oregon State University (OSU) the day before or after.

The costumes and performance were so stunning that I’ll post some more images from this event in the future as well under this link.

I’m hoping to teach at DKU in Seoul next summer.

Cole McKenzie celebrates Manny Barragan’s touchdown for the SOU Raiders

The SOU Raiders football team finished their improbable regular season with yet another upset victory yesterday over Montana Tech. Picked to come in 5th place in Southern Oregon University’s initial season in the Frontier Conference, the Raiders did a little better than expected by coming in 1st place instead. Today the seeding for the NAIA playoffs happened, and the Raiders will be traveling to Iowa for the first round. Four more victories will be needed to win the National Championship.

Somehow I think this Eric Cartman (South Park) costume was meant for someone a bit shorter and fatter.

Paddy's was one of the sponsors of the 2012 Monster Dash (and a prior sponsor of my softball team). Thanks to all of the sponsors and participants, thousands of dollars were raised for Ashland's public schools.

SOU on Halloween (2012)

On Halloween I had to give a test during the annual, Ashland Halloween parade. I think this was only the second time I have missed the Halloween parade in 11 years. The other time I was in Japan watching their version of a Halloween parade. Rain was falling for the beginning of the test, but by the time I walked out of my classroom in Taylor Hall at 5:30 the rain had stopped and the campus was empty. Upon seeing this scene I realized I should go get my camera.
