Happy Halloween!
The annual Halloween Parade through town happens today beginning at 3:30 from the library to the plaza. Unfortunately, I’m in class until 5:30 so I will have to miss it this year.
Ashland Cemetery in Autumn
The fall season and cemeteries seem to go hand in hand. Neither looks quite right without the other.

Clay Sierra hauls in the football.
This was called a touchdown. At the time I thought Jared Hunt's knee went down when the ball was at the one, but this photo shows his knees still in the air. I still think he went down before the ball crossed the goal line though.
Plays are called from the sidelines via images on the big sign and four other football players making hand signals and other gestures.
By the way, I met another photographer, George McKay, earlier in the day at the Ashland Monster Dash. He was also taking pictures at the football game and runs a blog similar to this one. Check out his Life in Ashland blog.
Ashland Monster Dash 2012 5k winner
The 5k and 10k races of the 2012 Ashland Monster Dash began at the same time. Just to the left of center you can see the winner of the 10k race, Ryan Ghelfi, who finished more than 2 minutes faster than the next racer!
David Laney edged out Trevor Palmer (aka Popeye) to win the 5k race at yesterday’s 2012 Ashland Monster Dash.
SOU upsets Carroll in a 52-49 win
The Southern Oregon University Raiders football team played great during the second quarter yesterday. This bomb from Austin Dodge to Patrick Donahue got things going. They didn’t dominate in any other quarter, but they did enough during this single quarter to allow for a victory in the end.
Ashland Monster Dash 2012
For some reason I’ve never been in town when the Ashland Monster Dash has happened. Last year we were in Portland. So this was my first, and it was funner than expected–even without any blue in the sky.
I have hundreds of decent images from this morning’s races and costume contest so I’ll be posting many over the coming days.
Ashland High School football under the lights panorama
Tonight the Grizzlies play their final home game of the season against Eagle Point High School. Hopefully, it is a little more exciting than last time’s blow out.

Game of the week this Saturday in Ashland
Saturday afternoon at Raider Stadium in Ashland will feature a big game. SOU is coming off three consecutive victories in which they scored 60+ points–something which has never been done before in college football in Oregon. Not even the Oregon Ducks can make such a claim.
Southern Oregon University’s opponent will be a formidable one however. The Carroll College Saints are ranked in the top 10 and have won the NAIA National Championship for football 6 times (all in the past 10 years!). This should be a good game.
