As a member of the SOU faculty, nothing warms my heart more (other than maybe a national championship, go wrestling! get us another!) than scholar athletes. This past fall we had 13 of them. That’s right, not one or two but, 13 of them! Full details can be found here.

Dylan Young asked me for one last photo as his career as a Raider ended last month. I was happy to oblige with the above. However, he better be comping me a photo pass next year when he is playing for the Cowboys so that this isn’t the last photo I take of him. 😉

Today’s photo comes from November 2014. Construction is continuing on the Science Building on the SOU campus as you can see in this photo. The new Science Building will (supposedly) be ready in fall of this year.
SOU men’s basketball – Eric Thompson

After a disappointing Friday night, in which the Raiders lost two close games in Eugene, the Raiders came up big on Saturday night in Salem. The women won 68-57 and the men won, thanks to a late 3-pointer by Eric Thompson, 69-66.

In the better late than never category, today’s photos are from about four months ago at Club 66. This was an all ages show featuring Gravewitch, Repellent, and Dogma. Amazingly enough, PajamaXviolence was not the first band I saw perform in their PJs. EHMD sported a onesie first back in January.
Speaking of all ages shows, there is one this next Wednesday (1/7/15) at Club 66. Bädr Vogu, Urinator, and Hermits will be hitting the stage at 5 p.m. and finishing before 8 p.m.
Speaking of Gravewitch, they are returning to Southern Oregon on Monday, January 26 at 6:00 p.m. at an all ages show at Musichead in Medford.

If you are in the Eugene or Salem area for the holidays, the Southern Oregon University men’s and women’s basketball teams will be in town. Tonight they face Northwest Christian University in Eugene and tomorrow night (1/3/15) they will be at Corban University. The women’s games are at 5:30 with the men following at 7:30.

The photos I post here are a small fraction of the photos I actually have. If you would like to print any of the photos on this blog, you are welcome to do so at no charge. Be sure to click on the photo to get to the higher resolution size which will print with more quality. If you want to use them on the web (Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, etc.), you are welcome to do so if you link back to traveljapanblog.com/ashland with the photo or link back to the URL with source of the photo.
If you would like me to search through all of my photos and send you photos of the particular athlete you are looking for I charge a reasonable fee for the time it takes me to find all of those photos and to process them for you. I do not normally sell prints. I email you the high quality electronic files in .jpg format, and you can do the printing and framing yourself through a local or online service. You can also make photo books or do whatever you like with the pictures. My email is on this page.
