Welcome to installment #24 in “The Whole Picture” in which I present the uncropped, higher resolution versions of photos that SOURaiders.com has published. For prior editions click here. For higher resolution click on the photo before saving. As always, these are best viewed on a big screen rather than a cell phone.
Some of you may have found your way here through the link on souraiders.com. I have had several people email me asking questions about buying prints or about finding all of my photos for a certain sport.
The photos I post here are a small fraction of the photos I actually have. If you would like to print any of the photos on this blog, you are welcome to do so at no charge. Be sure to click on the photo to get to the higher resolution size which will print with more quality. If you want to use them on the web (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), you are welcome to do so if you link back to traveljapanblog.com/ashland in the description of the photo. If you are using the photo in a newspaper or magazine, please credit “Al Case, Ashland Daily Photo”.
If you would like me to search through all of my photos and send you photos of the particular athlete you are looking for I charge a reasonable fee for the time it takes me to find all of those photos and to process them for you. I do not normally sell prints. I email you the high quality electronic files in .jpg format, and you can do the printing and framing yourself through a local or online service. My email is on this page or you can comment (leave a reply) to a blog entry to communicate.

Frequently you hear about in-state or inter-conference rivals, but the SOU-Marian rivalry is now turning into the national championship rivalry in the NAIA. SOU beat Goshen College tonight to advance to the national championship game against Marian on Tuesday. They did this without conference MVP Ashley Claussen. They did this with first-year coach Alex Carlson who is now 33-1, perhaps the best start to a coaching career in history.
SOU is 1-1 against Marian in national championship games. The Lady Raiders are going to tip the scales in SOU’s favor on Tuesday. Game time is 5 p.m. The game will be shown on ESPN3 or you can go to RedZone, Northwest, or Omars to watch. You may want to arrive early to avoid having to stand while you cheer the Raiders on to another national championship.

Tonight the SOU women’s basketball team attempts to do what no other SOU basketball team has done before, reach the finals in the NAIA National Championship Tournament. Game time is 6 p.m. PDT. You can watch the game via ESPN3 on your computer or phone here. If you are in Ashland, head to RedZone, Omars, or Northwest as they will have the game up on the big screen.

The Raiders have advanced to the Final Four (for the first time in nearly 20 years and for just the second time in school history) with last night’s victory over Tabor. Details here.
Morningside lost (at home) which means the Raiders will be the only team with two or fewer loses once the season is over. Massey still has Morningside at #1, but the coaches will put them at #5 in the final poll since they didn’t reach the Final Four.
Massey has SOU as an 8-point favorite over Goshen, a 5-point favorite over Marian, and an 8-point favorite over Mount Marty. However, Massey doesn’t consider the injury to conference MVP Ashley Claussen. I don’t know if Claussen is healthy enough to play like her normal self or even at all.
If the Raiders can get past Goshen, the final match up will be interesting as the Lady Raiders can indirectly avenge either the Southern Oregon football loss to Marian or the men’s basketball loss to Mount Marty.
Monday night’s game can be viewed on ESPN3 or at RedZone at 6 p.m. PDT.

The Raiders take on Tabor today at 4 p.m. PST. RedZone is the place to watch the game. You may want to get there early if you want to be sure to get a seat.
Massey gives SOU a 78% chance of victory and predicts a 9-point spread. Tabor is from a weak conference. While they have beaten up on their conference opponents, they have not fared very well playing other teams. Briar Cliff, who SOU beat yesterday, is similar to the Raiders, and Tabor lost to them at home. Tabor barely (the score on the bracket is wrong) got past unranked Asbury in OT yesterday, even though Massey had Tabor as heavy favorites.
Massey has Dakota Wesleyan as a 66% favorite over Goshen. Dakota Wesleyan is 0-2 against Brair Cliff so the Raiders will welcome a match up with Dakota Wesleyan in the semifinals.

A strong 3rd quarter propelled the Raiders to the quarterfinals this afternoon. Details here.
Saturday’s game against Tabor will be shown at the RedZone at 4 p.m. Southern Oregon’s path to the championship may have become a bit easier as #1 seed St. Xavier and #2 seed Davenport both lost. The Raiders have the chance to get to the finals without facing a #2 or #1 seed. Today’s opponent, Briar Cliff, may have been the best team the Raiders will have to face before the finals. Massey thinks so anyway. Tabor won’t be easy, but they did lose to Briar Cliff earlier this season.

The Raiders made it past Clarke yesterday to advance to the Sweet 16. Details here.
Today’s game is at 3:15 against Briar Cliff. RedZone is the place to watch it. This could be Southern Oregon’s toughest opponent of the tournament until the semifinals. Briar Cliff is from Sioux City so it’s a home game for them. Even though they are a #4 seed (based on the coaches), Massey thinks they should have been a #2 seed. Massey has SOU as a 4-point favorite.
Speaking of Massey, yesterday’s game was almost perfectly predicted by Massey. Massey forecasted a final score of 85-67. The final score was 85-63. In the Briar Cliff game Massey predicted a final score of 74-71. The final score was 75-63. Massey went 7-1 yesterday, and the scores were nearly all spot on. SOU will happily take a 4-point win today.
