Regular season home finale weekend

large_Eastern_Oregon_College_of_Idaho

Saturday night and Sunday afternoon will wrap up the home games for the regular season for the SOU basketball teams. Incredibly, neither team has lost at home (Ashland High School). Their combined home record is 20-0. Not that the games haven’t been close. The women had to come from behind to beat Oregon Tech this past Tuesday. The men have turned nearly every game into a nail biter, and they rarely lead at half time.

The men should earn at least one home game in the Cascade Conference playoffs. They have to play conference-leading Northwest Christian on the road so achieving all home playoff games will take some work.

The women should have all home playoff games before the national tournament, where they will likely be a #2 seed.

Tonight!

Seats will go fast. Get there early, or you may be turned away due to capacity issues. Grab a seat before someone from Klamath Falls takes yours. Game preview here.

I try to shoot so that I have to do as little editing after the fact as possible. The photo, above, needed some work.

The Raiders are now 21-1 after last night’s 111-33 victory. Tuesday night’s game (2/9/16) will be a big one against OIT in Ashland. The winner will be in first place in the Cascade Conference. The crowd will be huge. Get there early if you want a seat (and a free t-shirt).

Massey gave the Raiders just a 35% chance of winning tonight’s game at Warner Pacific, but the Raiders are perfect in close games, and tonight was no exception. The final score was 78-76. More details here.

There was a good-sized crowd last night at Ashland High School for the Raiders’ victories. Come on out this afternoon for today’s twin bill.

The games are exciting to watch for very different reasons. The 17-1 women dominate their opponents, and the 9-2 in-conference-play men find a way to win at the last moment. The men could just as easily be 5-6 as they’ve pulled off a win in four or five games that could have gone either way.
