@SOURaiders @SOU_Football

This Friday, April 29 @ 6 p.m., the annual Red & Black Spring Game will take place at Raider Stadium. Come early for the tailgate (beginning at 3:30) to honor Mr. Raider, Stan Smith.

Tylor King

@SOURaiders @SOU_Football @SOUTrackXC

Normally there are more judges than spectators when it comes to shot put. Not so yesterday at the Raider Invitational. Tylor King is also on the football team, and a large contingent of football players and other SOU athletes came out to support him. Having dozens cheer him on, Tylor nearly hit 55 feet. Even the shortest of his six throws traveled much farther than any of his competitors. He has a good chance to place at Nationals next month in Alabama.

Next Friday night is the annual Red & Black Spring Game in Ashland. Today’s photo is from early in the 2015 season, another season that ended in a trip to the National Championship.

SOU’s 2015 football team and 2015-16 women’s basketball team both came in 2nd place nationwide

@LSDirectorsCup @SOU_Football @raidersayre @SOURaiders

You can read about SOU’s 6th place standing in the Directors’ Cup here. Digging into the data a little deeper reveals that the schools in front of Southern in the rankings all have swim teams (SOU, and most NAIA schools, do not). If you back out the swim points, SOU is actually in first place!

With less than 30 teams competing in swimming at the NAIA level, why does swimming get equal rating with football (87 programs have football)? Or basketball (over 130 programs have basketball in NAIA DII)?

My random, desktop image of the day. I think my favorite part is #43 and #44 on the far right.

Laurence Calcagno

Remember that time in 2014 in Chicago when Laurence Calcagno tipped this pass?

Heston Altenbach

Heston Altenbach came down with it.

And then took off for the end zone.

SOU beat #3 St. Xavier to clinch a spot in the National Championship Game in Daytona.

Which Southern Oregon won!
