A 5-1 weekend, including two wins over ranked teams, netted the Raiders Team of the Week honors yesterday. Today Kelsey Randall was named Offensive Player of the Week, and 6-0 Victoria Mackey was named Pitcher of the Week. Randall is a sophomore and Mackey is a freshman. The future looks bright for SOU softball.

The first home game isn’t until March, but the Raiders will play a bunch of games in February, mostly in California, beginning Friday.

The Raiders begin their new season today on the road. They play at home against Oregon Tech on September 2 at 6 p.m.

Kelsey Randall and Brianne Craig made the all-conference team the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced today. Alexa Gonzalez received honorable mention. With a combined six more seasons of eligibility remaining between the three of them, the future looks bright for Raider softball. Kelsey and Brianne were also Gold Glove Award winners at their positions. Only one player from each position (in the 8-team conference) is awarded a gold glove.

After a 2-2 week, in which the Raiders split doubleheaders with the #8 and #10 teams in the country, two Southern Oregon softball players received conference honorable mentions as players of the week. Conference play begins this weekend against Concordia and Northwest on the road. Next week the second set of rankings come out, and it will be interesting to see if the 19-9 Raiders crack the top 25 (given that most of their loses were to teams in the top ten).

Kelsey Randall was named the Cascade Conference Player of the Week for going 17-for-33 with five extra-base hits and seven steals in her first week on the team.
Ashley Claussen picked up an Honorable Mention in basketball even though the Raiders played only one game. Going 5-for-6 from 3-point range in addition to leading the team with six assists can make that happen.

League play doesn’t begin for another month, but the Southern Oregon University softball team has had their way with their opponents thus far. They will play eight games this weekend in California.
Freshman Kelsey Randall, a two-sport star for the Raiders, is leading the team in most offensive categories including average (.583), runs (12), and slugging percentage (.958). She turned a nifty double play from her shortstop position in yesterday’s victory.

The photos I post here are a small fraction of the photos I actually have. If you would like to print any of the photos on this blog, you are welcome to do so at no charge. If you would like me to search through all of my photos and send you photos of the particular athlete you are looking for I charge a reasonable fee for the time it takes me to find all of those photos and to process them for you. I do not normally sell prints. I email you the high quality electronic files in .jpg format, and you can do the printing and framing yourself through a local or online service.
