The Raiders didn’t get an easy pool. Although the coaches have Central Methodist at #12, Massey has them at #9. That said, the top two teams advance so even if the Raiders have trouble with Central Methodist, they’ll be fine if they get past Indiana Kokomo (today) and Bellevue (tomorrow).

#10 SOU landed in a pool with #7 Viterbo, #23 Jamestown, and unranked Saint Xavier. The top two teams advance. Being the second highest ranked team, according to the coaches, is nice, and having no top ranked teams in the pool is nicer. However, if you look at Massey Ratings, usually a better indicator than the coaches, things get even better.
Massey has Southern Oregon at #9, Viterbo at #13, Jamestown at #18 (behind both College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon–two teams the Raiders have defeated), and Saint Xavier at #34. SOU’s odds of advancing to the final 16 look promising.
Pool play begins November 27.

Southern Oregon University teams combined for a 7-0 record this weekend. But wait, there’s more. School hasn’t even started yet, and the Raiders are a combined, drum roll please, 14-0 in conference games. Wowza!
