U.C. Merced will head on up the I-5 to Ashland this weekend for the first round of the NAIA National Tournament. The coaches have SOU at #13. Massey has the Raiders at #14, UC Merced at #65, and gives Southern Oregon a 72% chance of winning.

For the second year in a row, the Raiders’ men’s soccer team is the Cascade Conference champions.

Consider these things…
This is just the fourth year of the program’s existence.
They were picked to come in third.
The Cascade Conference is huge–14 teams.
SOU has a rookie coach in Davie Carmichael.
They lost their first two (non-conference) games and have not lost since!

Massey does computerized rankings for more than just football. As the Raiders just entered the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll last week (at #24), I thought I’d see Massey’s take. Massey has Southern Oregon at #11, behind only #8 Corban in the conference. Massey has Rocky Mountain at #16. The coaches have Rocky Mountain at #11 and Corban at #15.

Perhaps most interesting is the fact that Massey has the Raider defense at #1 in the NAIA.
