Myla Norvell serves for the Siskiyou Volleyball Club in the Ashland Middle School Large Gym

The Siskiyou Volleyball Club 16/17&Under Team coached by Alan Young won the 11-team Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Tournament held at Ashland Middle School yesterday despite losing more games than they won on the day. In the most unlikeliest of methods, they lost nearly all of their pool play games in the morning. In the afternoon they won two of three from their first two opponents (one who was undefeated to that point, Impact Volleyball Club from Medford I think). They then won two straight from Eclipse Volleyball Club in the Championship Game, another team who hadn’t lost and who had beaten Siskiyou two straight earlier in the day.

I think their overall record on the day was 7-8 in individual games, but they won the afternoon matches that counted the most.

After beating NWCU on Tuesday night, the Raiders moved on to the next round of the CCC tournament. They will play in Idaho (College of Idaho) on Friday. A victory then will mean a chance at the Championship on Saturday night.

Southern Oregon University Women’s Volleyball

The opening round of the CCC Volleyball Championships begins tonight in Ashland. The Raiders will be taking on Northwest Christian University with the winner advancing to the next round.

AHS was knocked out of the state tournament last night in Corvallis, losing in five to Crescent Valley High School. Ashland won the first two games.
