Jared Hixon had a busy week collecting awards. On Friday the All American and National Champion in the 1500 was named the Cascade Conference Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Last night he picked up the Alumni Award (the highest award given) at the 2016 Red and Black All-Sports Awards from his fellow SOU student athletes. Today he was named the CCC Athlete of the Year. Seniors at the 2016 Raider Awards

Last night was the fourth annual Raider Awards (AKA 2016 Black and Red All-Sports Awards) on the SOU campus. Always a fun event, it’s kind of sad to see the seniors go. Most of them will be walking this Saturday at 2016 Commencement.

In sad news, Club 66 has been sold. No word yet as to what the new owner will do with the place. Uzi says he will have a new venue, maybe as early as August. Let’s hope so.

In good news, I’ll be seeing SUMAC again in a little over three weeks in Denmark. It will be interesting to see the difference between them playing in front of dozens in Club 66 compared to thousands at the Roskilde Festival.
