I mentioned before that the men’s basketball team will face a tough opponent on Saturday night. However, while the pre-season coaches’ poll had Warner Pacific as SOU’s main competition, after the pre-season games, Concordia has moved into that position and up in the rankings to #13. SOU moved up one spot to #3. Concordia will be in Ashland Friday night. So come on out to the games. Women play at 5:30 and the men start at 7:30 both nights.
The first, regular-season edition of the NAIA Coaches’ Poll has the Lady Raiders in the #19 spot. The pre-season poll didn’t have them ranked at all, but an impressive 9-1 preseason featuring many blowout victories changed some coaches’ minds. Cascade Conference foes Oregon Tech (#16) and Eastern Oregon (#27) also received some votes, but the Raiders won’t be facing either team at home until late January.
This past Saturday night the Lady Raiders more than doubled the score of their opponents in their 102-43 victory over the Northwest Indian College Eagles. This little lady didn’t seem to mind that her mom’s team wasn’t winning. She just enjoyed her seat on the bench. Amazingly, she was quite well behaved and only ran on the court during timeouts.
The Southern Oregon University Men’s Basketball Team beat Simpson (again) tonight to wrap up their pre-conference schedule with a 9-1 record. They may face their toughest home competition until the NAIA Tournament in March of 2014 this coming weekend as Warner Pacific was the coaches’ pick to come in second behind the Raiders. The Raiders will play Warner Pacific on Saturday night (and Concordia on Friday night). Both games will be in Ashland and begin at 7:30 following the women.
I mentioned a couple months ago about how my photos on souraiders.com sometimes get cropped (leaving out balls, hands, feet, etc. that were in the original). Today’s pics are some more that fit that category.
