I’m in Korea for 4th of July celebrations (or lack thereof) this year. (At least I hope I am. I’m actually pre-blogging this week on Memorial Day back in late May.) Brynna Dean of 100 Watt Mind @ Club 66 in Ashland, Oregon

100 Watt Mind will be rocking the Britt Festival next week. May saw 100 Watt Mind record their first, real studio album in San Francisco. No word yet on a release date, but hopefully it will be soon.

To keep things interesting when I do a photo shoot after Jolene bakes something up, I try to use a different lens each time. I think I have used seven different lenses on her sweets now. For the above photo I used my 50mm f/1.2 manual lens. I have only used this lens a couple times since purchasing it over craigslist for a ridiculously low price. I don’t know why I don’t use it more often as it takes fantastic photos with creamy backgrounds at f/1.2. The manual focus is actually a fun change of pace too.

Mount Shasta from snowy Mount Ashland

Thinks are heating up around Ashland so I’m sharing a blast from the coldness of this past winter today.

(Actually, I have no idea if things are heating up in Ashland, but they should be this time of year. I created this post weeks ago, and am now in Japan so I don’t know what the weather is like in Ashland. This post has been preset to post on June 22. Mitchell Lofstedt – SOU’s Wrestler of the Year for 2013 and Legacy Award Winner

Mitchell Lofstedt had an incredible collegiate career at SOU. He earned the most career wins, highest winning percentage, most wins in one season, and three individual national championships. In addition, he lead the Raiders to three second-place finishes in the NAIA Team National Championships.

SOU Women’s Soccer Team

A couple weeks ago I was asked to take photos at the first, annual 2013 Black and Red All-Sports Awards Banquet. The event worked sort of like an academy awards show with the athletes in formal dress. Three players from each SOU sports team were part of the voting block. There were nominees for various awards like athlete of the year for each sport, play of the year, coach of the year, etc.

Today’s photo was taken after the event and includes much of the Women’s Soccer Team. The finalists for soccer athlete of the year were Alyssa Bricker and Stephanie Carr. I’ll show you the winner in a future post.
