I took today’s photo (yesterday) from the Ashland Springs Hotel. The clouds made for some spectacular scenery and shadows. Grizzly Peak looks best this time of year as it isn’t normally this green.
I have shown you a picture from this location on this November morning before, but I think I like the sky in this version a little more.
This shot could have been really good had I been on the roof in the lower left corner instead of behind it. I took this from Glenview Drive, near the corner where it meets Hillcrest and Vista, looking north. You can see the Ashland Springs Hotel and the Ashland Elks Lodge, built 101 years ago, in this photo.
I went for a walk yesterday in the late afternoon. This was the view looking north (and maybe slightly west) towards Medford from above the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The sky was going through sort of a pre-sunset. The clouds seemed to be coming off the mountain, almost like a fire.
Normally, when you take a picture from your car, it doesn’t come out too good. Usually the photo is blurry, not well framed, and/or looking through dirty glass.
I took today’s photo from the fast lane, heading north, on I-5 just south of the Oregon/California border, about 15 miles south of Ashland. A dangerous shot to take from the driver’s seat, no? Actually no. We were parked in the fast lane! I didn’t even have the engine running, and my window was rolled down despite the temperature.
Cars and trucks were chaining up to head over the pass. We didn’t move from this position in the fast lane for over 15 minutes. I think the driver of the truck in this pic was taking his chains off after making it over the Siskiyou Summit coming from Oregon.
As mentioned yesterday, it was a good cloud day, offering great scenery for my six hour drive from Ashland, Oregon to Palo Alto, California. In Palo Alto I met up with a friend who I hadn’t seen in over 30 years.
As mentioned a week or so ago, I headed down to California last week. The sunrise on the morning of my departure was rather stellar.
The clouds were nice all morning in fact. I’ll show you how they looked with Mt. Shasta (about an hour south of Ashland) later on the same day in tomorrow’s entry.
After several days in a row of little or no sun last week, it was nice to look out the window one afternoon and see some blue sky breaking through some white, fluffy clouds. With the Japanese Maples still pretending it is fall and the pines remaining as green as ever, this presented the viewer with a cornucopia of color. There was even snow on the mountains to offset the colors with some whiteness.
At the corner of Terrace Street and Ashland Loop Road I noticed some unusual, swirly clouds blending nicely with the curves in this person’s driveway. The fall foliage looked nice too but didn’t come out so much in this photo.
This is, of course, the same view I’ve posted a couple dozen times, at least, before. Every day it’s different though.
