What’s a werewolf to do?

Had a nice full moon the other night. The clouds helped to make things more interesting than a simple full moon though.

Different season, same time of night as this prior photo for this beautiful building (historic Redmen’s Hall — circa 1884) in Jacksonville. If you look really closely you can see Allison and Victor playing inside.

Home again; jet lagged again

Ashland before 5 a.m. with the shutter open for 30 seconds

I’m back in Ashland after five and a half weeks in (mostly) Scandinavia. In my first two mornings I haven’t been able to make it past 4 a.m. Maybe tomorrow…

This photo, BTW, shows things as being much lighter outside than they really are. This picture isn’t the first time I’ve found myself jet lagged and taking a shot like this.

Snowy Ashland Springs Hotel

Today’s photo was my random desktop image of the day. I took this picture of Ashland’s most famous hotel back in February on a snowy day in town. I left the shutter on my LX3 open for 8 seconds.

End of Floater Week

This was the scene outside the Rogue Theatre in Grants Pass, Oregon at midnight when Floater finished their performance.

A little earlier in the evening…

Floater (Day 4)

More from last week’s Floater show today…

I took a few shots and one video (below) from the balcony. I’ve come to the conclusion that my lens (AF-S DX Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II lens) is simply not great for low light photography. I’m thinking about picking up a Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens for low light situations.

Floater covered Rush’s “Working Man” and then immediately went into their own song “Seventeen” at about 1:40. Rather than cut the video into two I just left it as is. The sound is a bit better on this one as I’m closer to the mixing board, but the audio for the bass is still not handled well in the D7000’s auto sensitivity mode.

Main Street

East Main Street in Ashland features many of Ashland’s well-known places such as the Ashland Springs Hotel, Travel Essentials, and the Columbia Hotel. The latter two are in the Enders Building (on the National Register of Historic Places), built in 1910. I believe the Columbia Hotel has been running in this location for over a hundred years now. Also notice the Oregon Shakespeare Festival heraldic banner.

Zoey’s Cafe & All Natural Ice Cream (in the snow)

When the temperature falls below freezing, is ice cream really what you crave? Probably not, but in the summer there are far more people at this ice cream parlor in Ashland. It was called BJ’s until about six years ago. I think Zoey is the name of the “new” owner. They still serve BJ’s ice cream (from Florence, Oregon).

Varsity Theatre

The Ashland Independent Film Festival is just around the corner. This will be the 10th year for the annual festival. Most showings take place in the art-deco Varsity Theatre, pictured here, in downtown Ashland. The neon lights have been burning brightly on this theater since 1937.
