I’m going to miss the Festival of Light tonight in Ashland as we are in San Francisco this weekend. Entertainment in downtown Ashland begins at 1 p.m. today. Santa’s Parade begins at the library at 5 p.m. Santa is going to turn on the lights from the balcony at Alex’s between 5:45 and 6 p.m. I’ll show you a photo from last year of that part of the festivities tomorrow.
Today’s photo is also from last year’s Festival of Light Parade.
I probably haven’t focused on this part of Ashland enough, but there are a ton of hippies in this town. This mother-daughter duo was waiting for the Southern Oregon Pride Parade to begin.
The Ashland Saturday Market is now closed for the season, but until recently you could head down there (between Wells Fargo Bank and Standing Stone Brewery–basically here) and pick up some really yummy things to eat for breakfast.
It has been a full year since David Grubbs was murdered on Ashland’s bike path as he walked home from work at Shop’n Kart. I remember the evening of November 19, 2011 and the subsequent days well. The police haven’t arrested anyone yet, but they did do some searches this past week in conjunction with this ongoing case.
The Southern Oregon University football team scored four touchdowns in the fourth quarter today against St. Ambrose (Iowa – ranked #8) for their first playoff win in a decade. Now they move on to the quarterfinals.
Today’s photo is from last week’s game. You know that scene on TV when the cameraman gets plowed into by the guy running out of bounds? That was almost me when I took this photo (which hasn’t been cropped). I was moving out of the way as I took this pic so as to avoid ending up underneath these two.
The nice thing about volleyball photography is you don’t have to change seats to change your view as the teams switch sides after each game.
