The new 2015 NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 Poll is out, and unsurprisingly, SOU has dropped from #1 to #4 because of a road loss to Carroll in the first week. Carroll’s road loss to Montana Tech cost them more than a few spots as well. The Frontier Conference is now wide open. Montana Tech and Montana Western have both looked good in their first two wins. However, Montana Tech will have their hands full @ Eastern Oregon this weekend. Montana Western faces Carroll in a couple weeks. It’s unlikely any Frontier Conference team will enter October without a loss.

A less-biased poll is one not done by coaches. This one has SOU @ #2, Carroll @ #3, and seven Frontier Conference teams in the top 22.

Austin Dodge, the 2014 NAIA Football Player of the Year, is now a Stampeder

The deal is for three years beginning in 2016. Calgary was the CFL champion in 2014 (and they currently have the best record in 2015). Looks like they want to continue winning championships.

SOU football @ Carroll College (9/5/15)

Last weekend’s loss at Carroll hurt, but it will mean little if the Raiders beat Eastern this weekend and Carroll in October in Ashland. It’s better to win your last game than your first.

Take last season for example. Carroll and SOU split the regular season series (and neither team had lost to any other team at the time), but Carroll was ranked four spots ahead of SOU after winning the game over SOU later in the season.

I slapped my Raiders Gameday! magnet on this truck before the Ashland 4th of July Parade a couple months ago and haven’t seen it since. I hope it is put to good use.
