Ashland received a large amount of rain this past week, but with temperatures in the 50s, not even Grizzly Peak has snow on it.

Ashland High School Girl’s Varsity Volleyball player Hope Baldrica

This weekend the U16 Siskiyou Volleyball Club Team (featuring much of next year’s Ashland High School Varsity Team) will be headed north up I-5 to a three-day tournament in Eugene (Springfield actually, CEVA Presidents’ Day Tournament). I’ll be joining them for the first two days.

Southern Oregon University in snow

The campus is quiet now, very quiet. So quiet that I’m not even there. I’m in sunny California.

Today’s photo is from a couple weeks ago when it was also very quiet even though school was still on. Actually, it was cancelled on this day due to the snow.

Sammich “Michael”
(slow cooked beef with bbq sauce and slaw)

In my never-ending quest to eat everything on the Sammich menu, including the constantly changing specials, I offer one of those specials for your visual consumption–Michael.

Note that Sammich is very kid friendly. While waiting for my order on this day I successfully completed drawings (not really) both in the Happy Holidays Cat in the Hat and Angry Birds coloring books you can see behind the Michael.
