A thrilling, come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Roseburg yesterday put a smile on all of the boys’ faces.

I watched my first Ashland High School soccer game this past weekend. The JV team took on Klamath Union High School on the Ashland Middle School field.
Soccer dreaming
I’m not a big Photoshopper. I like my images to look real. Usually the only things I do in Photoshop are crop, photomerge, and do minor work on lighting (to make things look more like they actually did–not less). I’m not a fan of HDR.
However, the original for today’s photo came out sort of strange. The grass near me had a dreamy, out-of-focus quality that I decided to push onto the rest of the image somewhat. I also lightened the shadows on the soccer player. What do you think?

SOU Women’s Soccer
The Southern Oregon University Women’s Soccer team won their first game of the season a couple days ago against Trinity Lutheran. Next game is this morning at 11.

I’m looking forward to a return to outdoor sports. No, soccer doesn’t resume until the fall, but SOU softball has begun and the team will be playing at home soon.

Ashland had some nice weather on Thursday of last week so I headed over to the soccer field to watch the SOU ladies dominate the Trinity Lutheran University visiting team. After a generous crop and rotation I came up with the above image. However, I’m not sure if I like the “corrected” photo better than the original (below). What do you think?
BTW, this is Maddy Scott. My favorite part of the picture is when you make it larger by clicking on it you can see bits of airborne grass from the kick that have yet to settle.
Ashland soccer
Today’s photo is from the archives. I took this pic of Ellie back in 2007. However, I didn’t like it because it had too much noise. With Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3 I easily removed most of the noise so now I’m more happy with the picture.
With Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended I then took the other girl’s foot out of the picture and came up with a slightly better result. To remove an object from an image, after outlining the thing you want removed, select Edit from the menu, and then Fill and Content Aware.
My daughter’s first goal
To break up all of the snowy pictures of the past little while I dug in the archives for this photograph from two summers ago when I captured my daughter’s first soccer goal. This soccer field is behind Ashland Middle School.
