Today I returned to Ashland after a couple nights in Beatty, Oregon. This photo comes from a spot near the Sycan River on Tuesday. I went back to see the owls again on Wednesday and Thursday. See them again I did. However, by the time I had my camera out, they split.

The photos I post here are a small fraction of the photos I actually have. If you would like to print any of the photos on this blog, you are welcome to do so at no charge. Be sure to click on the photo to get to the higher resolution size which will print with more quality. If you would like me to search through all of my photos and send you photos of the particular athlete you are looking for I charge a reasonable fee for the time it takes me to find all of those photos and to process them for you. I do not normally sell prints. I email you the high quality electronic files in .jpg format, and you can do the printing and framing yourself through a local or online service. Next week about 16 Raiders will be heading to Alabama to compete in the national championship meet. Included in that number will be Danny Parks who won the discus last weekend with the third longest throw in the nation (almost 180 feet). He will also be competing in the hammer throw (pictured above) where he placed third in the conference.

Come on out to tonight’s football game at Raider Stadium at 6 p.m. Come early for the tailgate that will begin at 4. Be prepared for some surprises. I hear that one of the linebackers from last season may take handoffs from the fullback position. More details here.

Congratulations to Aspen Abbott, Cheyenne Bricker, Caleb Diaz, Alyssa Fielding, Eric Ghelfi, Alexa Gonzalez, Emily Lamb, Rebecca Lupescu, Will Parke-Hoffman, Dylan Paulk, Anna Reitmann, Jessie Rozario, Matt Williams, and Sydney White for their academic accomplishments while representing SOU as an athlete. All of these scholar-athletes have a cumulative GPA over 3.2 and are at least sophomores.
SOU was in second place when the baton was handed to Amelia Maguin for the anchor leg of the 4×100 relay.

Amelia Maguin broke the SOU record by .37 seconds in the 200 meters this past Saturday in Ashland. She also won the 100-meter hurdles and was on two winning relay teams (one pictured above). She opted not to compete in her best event (where she is ranked #1 in the entire NAIA with a time more than 2 seconds faster than anyone), the 400-meter hurdles, as there wasn’t any competition.

Yesterday saw the return of track and field to Raider Stadium for the first time in five years. Details here. Despite being April, the weather felt like summer. You won’t have to wait long to get in on the next competition in Ashland as Southern Oregon will also host the Cascade Conference Championships on May 8 and 9.
