Matt Krook named to the 2014 Freshmen All-America Team

Oregon Ducks Baseball Matt Krook

Matt Krook of the Oregon Ducks

I only made it to one Ducks’ baseball game this year (hopefully there will be more next year when my son is going there), and at that one game I had the good fortune of seeing Matt Krook pitch. He didn’t pitch much this year as he had elbow surgery that wiped out much of his season, but he was really good before that happened. He had a 2-1 record with a 1.79 ERA and 60 strikeouts in just 45.1 innings which was enough to earn him the honor.

Ducks drop out; Beavers still alive

OSU beavers baseball Kavin Keyes

Oregon State University – Kavin Keyes

@Kavin_Keyes3 Both of the Ducks’ teams had their seasons end yesterday. The softball team will likely end up ranked #3. The University of Oregon baseball team was eliminated at Regionals in a tough, come-from-behind victory for the other team. They will likely end up ranked about #20.

The #1 ranked Beavers of OSU need a win tonight (6/2/14) at home to advance to the Super Regionals against Oklahoma State. Game time is 8 p.m. PST, and you can watch the game on ESPNU.

Courtney Ceo of the Oregon Ducks Softball Team

@CourtneyCeo22 The Oregon Ducks have made it to the final four with a 2-1 record thus far at the Women’s College World Series. Unfortunately, two of the teams (Florida and Alabama) are 2-0. Oregon will need to beat Alabama this afternoon to stay alive.

Game time today (6/1/14) is 12:30 p.m. PST, and you can watch the game on ESPN.

No rest for the winners

Oregon Ducks Softball Cheridan Hawkins

Oregon Ducks Softball – Cheridan Hawkins

@CheridanH11 The Ducks beat the NCAA Division I player of the year (Lacey Waldrop of Florida State) this afternoon. The final score was 3-0 thanks to the shutout thrown by Cheridan Hawkins. Hawkins still has two more seasons of eligibility after this season so one of those player of the year honors may be going to her in 2015 and/or 2016.

Oregon plays again Friday (5/30/14) against #5 seed Flordia. Game time is 4 p.m. PST on ESPN2.

Ducks land three players on the All-American list

Oregon Ducks Softball – Janie Takeda

@jtakeda19 Most programs are happy when they have one All-American. Oregon has three in 2014. The other two are Cheridan Hawkins and Courtney Ceo. Only Ceo is in her final season.
