Voigtsminde Park, Faaborg, Denmark

Ploughs batterier is a fortification from early in the 1800s. The two canons and their wooden bases have been restored to the original period colors. They served to defend Faaborg from enemy ships during the war with England which lasted from 1801 to 1814. The canons are still used by a group who do reenactments on special occasions. Unfortunately, that wasn’t happening on the day I was there in July of 2024.

Fåborg Fjord (Denmark, July 2024)

One of the best sunsets I’ve ever experienced, I was out on a pier by myself. I couldn’t figure out why everyone at my hotel, just 100 meters away, hadn’t come out to join me.

Faaborg Harbor (Denmark)

As I was sauntering my way toward the docks in the Faaborg Harbor, rather ordinary lighting suddenly turned into this. I took this photo and then went for another but the moment was gone. The sun came completely out from behind a cloud, or vice versa, or something but for 5 – 10 seconds it was so good I would have taken a photo of absolutely anything just for the lighting.
