666 The Ultra-Violence re-released

6 minutes ago at 6 a.m. on 6/6 Death Angel re-released The Ultra-Violence, a CD which has been out of print for more than a decade (and sells for over $50 used). I purchased my copy 25 years ago so I don’t need another. The Ultra-Violence is still my favorite Death Angel release (and probably always will be), but all six of their studio albums are excellent.

Death Angel will be playing The Ultra-Violence, in its entirety, on tour this summer. Unfortunately, they aren’t coming anywhere near me.

Kreator’s “Phantom Antichrist” released

When I took today’s photo, back in July 2011 in Sweden, Mille announced to the crowd (in English) that Kreator was about to begin recording their next album in Sweden. Sure enough, they did, and today it will be released in Europe. Those in the USA will have to wait a few more days to obtain a copy of Kreator’s new CD.

Mastopeth’s Ghost

In just 48 hours I will be on the road, heading south into California for the third time in the past month. This time it will be to photograph Mastodon, Opeth, and Ghost at the beautiful Fox Theater in Oakland. Next week I’ll publish some of those pics here.

Today’s photo of Opeth is from the Getaway Rock Festival last summer in Sweden.

Accept releases Stalingrad today

A new CD from Accept comes out today… “Blood of the Nations” was just OK in my book, and I don’t expect “Stalingrad” to be much better. Accept probably won’t ever be better than “Restless and Wild” to me. I wouldn’t mind seeing them live again this summer.
