A bit of the exterior of Maniden at Daishoin can be seen in this prior post.
The Seven Lucky Gods (or Seven Gods of Fortune or 七福神) were raking it in at Daishoin on the day I was there a few summers ago.
A regular rain gutter would not cut it for a place like Senjokaku. For starters, the roof is massive and Miyajima gets a lot of rain.
This ingenious system turns a waterfall coming off the roof into a bedrock stream.
Unfortunately (now, for purposes of this photo, but fortunately then for purposes of my dryness), the rain had slowed by the time I took this photograph so you can’t see the water cascading off the roof so much.
