Waterfall Wednesday
No Iceland for me this summer. I’m hoping to book my flights to Denmark in the next month. Side trips will likely include Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic (again), and either Germany or the Netherlands.
BTW, I had this spot, on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, all to myself for the half hour or so I was there. If this waterfall was anywhere else in the world I’m guessing there would have been at least a hundred people there. The crowd, or lack thereof, makes a huge difference in the experience.
Waterfall into the North Atlantic Ocean
So the title is a bit of a misnomer, but if you look really carefully you can see the waterfall, in the distance (upper right section of this photograph), dumping into the ocean. The location for this photo is Port Arnarstapi, and this was a warm day for Iceland.
Londrangar
Today’s photo comes from a little over a month ago on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula of Iceland. Like most of the gorgeous places I visited on my short trip through northwestern Iceland on my way to Denmark, I was the only human there.
Daydream headquarters
A little something from last week when I was in Iceland…
I had this church (Búðakirkja) to myself as well as the waterfall (Bjarnarfoss) in the distance after. Amazing place.
The day was unusually warm (for Iceland–probably over 70 degrees F) with no wind. Beginning just after midnight (still light out), the wind began to howl, and never let up much during the next two days as I drove around and slept on the edge of the Westfjords.
